This is drama adaptation of the Story of the Richmond Sixteen performing at the Friends' Meeting House in Great Ayton.

Written and performed by Michael Mears, "A rare combination of a fine writer and a formidable actor". 

The compelling, shocking and inspiring story of the men who said NO to war.

The Play is about ‘The Richmond Sixteen’ the sixteen Conscience Objectors who were imprisoned in Richmond Castle in 1916, prior to them being sent to France under the orders of Lord Kitchener to be executed for disobeying orders. It was first shown at the 2016 Edinburgh Festival and Great Ayton Quakers were chosen by Michael Mears to perform here as part on his Autumn UK tour. Michael Mears tells the story. in different voices of, Bertram Russell, Asquith, Fenner Brockway, COs Norman Gaudie, Bert Brocklesby and Annie Wainwright and many more.

One hour and fifteen minute performance followed by refreshments and a question and answer session.
