On June 3rd 1769 Captain James Cook observed the Transit of Venus  from Tahiti during his first voyage of discovery aboard the HMS Endeavour.

Two hundred and fifty years later on 3rd June 2019 a new book about Captain Cook, "Yorkshire's Most Famous and Enigmatic Explorer" written by one of the Volunteers at Captain Cook Schoolroom Museum in Great Ayton, John Graham, on behalf of the Trustees and Volunteers, will be launched in the Schoolroom Museum from 10.00am to 12.00pm. The books are £5 each and John will be in the museum to sign them.

It would be good to see as many visitors and residents as possible, to support John, and the Museum, and toast the success of this venture. Members of the public are cordially invited and posters will be on display around the village.

Captain Cook Schoolroom Museum are always looking for volunteers to help run the museum, for further information please see the poster below.
