On Wednesday, September 7, North Yorkshire will host stage four of the Tour of Britain 2022 cycle race.
The stage will start in Redcar, travel south along the coast to Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay, then turn inland towards Great Ayton and Stokesley before heading south to the stage finish at Duncombe Park in Helmsley. The race will be broadcast live on ITV4 with highlights coverage available around the world. Full details of the race can be found here
The race is expected to travel through Great Ayton at between approximately 2.05 - 2.35pm.
Your community or business is either on or close to the race route, so we want to make sure you have information about the race and about how communities and businesses can get the most from the event.
We also want to know if you plan decorations or activities to celebrate the event – we’re always keen to share your stories.
As with previous cycle races, the vast majority of road closure will be managed using rolling closures, where the roads will closed for between 30 and 45 minutes to allow the race to pass safely. Additionally, parking restrictions will be in place across the race route to ensure the safety of the riders, support vehicles, spectators and other road users.

We are working closely with colleagues from district councils and the emergency services to ensure that any situations that arise on the race day can be dealt with. We are working with the race organisers to keep disruption to an absolute minimum.
Hosting a major, international professional cycle race, once again provides the opportunity to show off our fantastic countryside, coast and communities to the world. You can show your support for the race in several ways:
Decorate your town, village or business. The colours of the race are red white and blue – so dig out your decorations and show your support for the race.

Spread the word – tell your family, friends and colleagues that the race is coming. The more people who know about the race the better.
